1963 saw promotion back to the
First Division for chelsea. It began a memorable
era for the club, who began a run of nine consecutive
seasons when they were not outside of the top 10
in the First Division.

Fairs Cup away
Chelsea took
part in the Fairs Cup as representatives of London.
The tournament was won by FC Barcelona who beat
Birmingham City 4-1 over a two legged final.

Cup Replay
The 1970 FA Cup final saw Chelsea
play Leeds and draw 2-2 at wembley. The replay
at Old Trafford saw Chelsea win 2-1. Chelsea goalscorers
were Peter Houseman and Ian Hutchinson

The competition was created after
the Heysel Stadium disaster, when English clubs
were banned from European competition.
